Family service – sunday 15th August

August 11th, 2010

This Sunday’s service is what we call a Family Service, which basically means that we are all in together (i.e. the young people do not go out to their own activities, we do have a good selection of toys for very young children though). As for all of our services, you will be most welcome, regardless of where you are with God (even if nowhere) or anything else. Some people come every week, others just now and again, the door is open just the same.

Gardening at Harestock shops

July 29th, 2010

For various horticultural reasons we have decided to do the gardening a week early this month, so we will be there this Saturday (31st July). We will be litter picking as well. If you want to lend a hand then just come along. Don’t think you will then have to come every month!

Matinee Film Club – August 4th

July 26th, 2010

Our next Matinee Film Club is coming up on August 4th, 3pm. As usual we can’t say what the film will be because of licensing restrictions, but we can say that you will receive a warm welcome and will be served tea/coffee and cake at the interval!

Also, we realise that many of you can get to the Weeke Community Centre fairly easily on the bus, but it seems that getting a bus home again is not quite so easy. No problem though, because we can just give you a lift home, so you don’t need to worry about that.

The Matinee Film Club is open to anyone and there is no charge at all. Looking forward to meeting you there.

Cinema Club 49 – July 28th

July 21st, 2010

This summer we will be running CC49 at the beginning of the 6 week period rather than at the end. So, CC49 will be on Wednesday July 28th (3:30pm as usual). We will again have ice cream which, given the hot conditions recently, is probably a good idea (we got through nearly 8 litres last time!). As for the last few events, we will be showing two films, a ‘U’ and a ‘PG’. Feel free to suggest some titles…

Gardening at Harestock shops

June 28th, 2010

This Saturday we will be back to our normal 1st Saturday of the month slot. Obviously the weather has been very hot, but the plants are doing pretty well with some intermittent watering. If you fancy joining us then we are then from 9:30am to 10:30-11am.

Cinema Club 49 – now with ice cream

June 2nd, 2010

CC49 is on today where we will be showing two films again (a ‘U’ and a ‘PG) and also having ice cream. The weather has been a bit ‘variable’ recently, but the sun is out now, so ice cream seems a good choice.

Gardening at Harestock shops a week early

May 28th, 2010

Owing to holidays by key gardeners, for June we shall be doing the gardening at Harestock shops a week early on Saturday 29th May. The weather forecast is not looking too great but we will be there unless it is really raining solidly. Join us for 9:30am if you would like too, we collect litter as well. Finish time is normally between 10:30 and 11am.

Pentecost 2010

May 21st, 2010

This Sunday all three churches on Weeke will meet together at the Weeke Community Centre to celebrate Pentecost together. This was the day 50 days (hence the name) after the resurrection of Jesus when the Holy Spirit came on his followers in Jerusalem. It is essentially the birthday of the Church.

The service is of course open to all, especially visitors. There will be a shared lunch afterwards which everyone is very welcome to join in with.

The service starts at 10:30am, we will be there from 9:30am.

Matinee Film Club – 9th June

May 21st, 2010

Join us for the third Matinee Film Club this year at the Weeke Community Centre. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge. We project the film onto a big screen with subtitles, and have a good sound system. Part way through the film we break for tea/coffee and cake.

This event is a week later than originally planned because of a clash with Cinema Club 49 on the 2nd June (half term week).

Cinema Club 49 – 2 screens

April 12th, 2010

CC49 this Wednesday (14th) will be a first for us featuring two films at once. Our video license prevents us from advertising the title of the films, but both have an ‘adventure’ theme. One will be a PG for older children, the other a U for the younger ones. We will still be having fruit juice and popcorn at the break though. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay if they want, and we provide tea/coffee for them too.
