Welcome to the website of North Winchester Community Church. Our name (although not short) does explain something of who and where we are. As a church, our locality is important to us, we are very much part of the community of north Winchester, which principally includes the estates of Harestock, Weeke and Teg Down.
We meet each Sunday morning, and for many of the other activities we run, in the Weeke Community Centre. This may not be the traditional surroundings of most churches but gives us a chance to focus on fellowship rather than furnishings.
We do quite a few regular community events, including: Cinema Club 49, Matinee Film Club, Retirement Club, Gardening at Harestock Shops, Pantomime and Quiz Night. We also provide pastoral support and communion at nearby Sunrise.
Our Sunday morning service is open to all, we frequently have visitors and try to make them feel welcome. There is provision for young people also, who normally go to their own activities about half way through the service. The style of service is fairly informal with a mix of new songs and traditional hymns. Currently we have a band to lead us in worship.
